While traveling to the sandbar you will pass along the Miami shoreline and enjoy the sights of the many Miami mansions and homes of the rich and famous. The Key Biscayne Sandbar…one of South Florida’s many treasures is a local gathering of yachts, boats, charter yachts and rental boats. The sandbar is located south of Miami near Nixon’s compound. The sandbar is also known as Nixon’s Sandbar since it is just south of Nixon’s Cove, named after our former President Richard Nixon’s south Florida home. This home was commonly referred to as his Winter White House. The house was torn down in 2004 but the name remains today. Another name for the Key Biscayne Sandbar is Mashta Flats. Named for the sandbar that emerges at low tide.
